Autumn picnic

—  This photo by astrophotographer and landscape photographer Kike Navarro is reminiscent of looking through a keyhole.

Close to the main road, yet hidden among native trees, shrubs and chestnuts, this picnic area invites you to rest.

Those travelling on the road through the municipality of Garafía will find it near the turnoff to El Tablado. This is a wonderful area for hiking, whether through evergreen forests or coastal landscapes.

But even for those without provisions or hiking intentions, we recommend a short break, if only to enjoy the colours of the sunset and the singing of the birds. 

Here you can also clearly feel the changing of the seasons. Bright spring blossoms, resinous scent on hot summer days and now it is fresh, the air is often filled with humidity and colourful leaves create an autumnal mood.

Autumn, however, comes late to La Palma, so late that it is mistaken for winter, and before you know it, it is spring again.
