White Christmas

—  Every year it snows, if only a little, on the peaks of La Palma.

Astro and landscape photographer Kike Navarro shows us this rare image that delights visitors and islanders alike. Although the access roads towards Roque de los Muchachos are usually closed when it snows, we can catch a glimpse of the white splendour in the high mountains from most parts of the island. 

Kike, and not only him, is always amazed at how steep the island is in some places. It is only a short distance in a straight line from the sea directly to the snow-covered peaks. In fact, it's a maze of valleys and gorges that capture the moisture from the clouds and make the most of the afternoon sun.
