San Andrés - La Placita

It is a place where once sugar barons enjoyed life in the dreamy coastal town San Andrés, in the north of the island. 

Thanks to the mild climate, sugar cane meanwhile had been replaced by banana plantations. However, while strolling along the small town you still notice properity of times back then.

Palm trees and other exotic trees gracefully decorate the space between the church and the old Canary mansions.

The terrace of La Placita on the small Plaza invites to linger. 

Although La Placita is signposted as Bar & Cafetería, Sergio Manuel Acosta Montesino offers a surprising selection of international and Canary dishes.

His creative cuisine includes a touch of orient.  

Sergio brings his long-standing experience as a cook in a Thai restaurant.

Specialities include lamb medallions on honey and basil, chicken with yellow curry and coconut milk as well as an oriental salad with green papaya. 

Those who prefer classic dishes find also a selection of fish and meat treats as well as salads and pizzas.

On top of it, three homemade desserts are waiting to be tasted.  

Beer fans will enjoy the blend of hop, malt and excellent island water.

Guests can choose between three beer types of the island breweries Cervecería Isla Verde and Gara Verde.

The wine list includes wines by the glass like Vitega and Níspero.

Bottled wines of La Palma come from the Bodegas Teneguía and Vega Norte.

Besides, wines from the Spanish cultivation areas Rueda, Ribera del Duero and Rioja as well as from Lanzarote are offered.

Snacks are also available, like Tapas, coffee or a piece of German cake.

If you prefer drinks rich in vitamins you can go for freshly prepared fruit juices and milk shakes.

Everyone in the team is very friendly and eager to respond to the guests' wishes. 

Sergio appreciates quality and honesty.

He does not want to fool his customers and lets them know right away when he can't meet their requirements.

The TV-Programme „Wonderful. La Palma Magic Island in the Atlantic“ has made La Placita known far beyond the island. 

Thanks to the media library you can get a glimpse of Sergio and his wife Nora (fast-forward to 01:08, if you prefer,anyway the full programme is beautiful to watch!).

In the close surrounding of La Placita you can enjoy short or long walks.

From the Plaza a path leads downhill to the coast to the historic lime kiln.

The bordering promenade along the Atlantic Ocean leads to the sea pool Charco Azul and the nearby  Interpretation Centre for Sugar and Rum.
