Nestled in the unique landscape of the southern tip of La Palma you find a very special Restaurant
Its name in English means "salt garden".
In fact, the Salines of Fuencaliente and the restaurant are inseperably linked to each other.
Since the end of the 1960's the Hernández family, located between the volcanoes and the wide ocean, dedicated themselves to the extraction of the sea salt „Teneguía“.
In 2013 the family business "Salinas Marinas de Fuencaliente S.L.", which already comprises three generations, opened a matching theme restaurant.
Between the two light houses and the salt gardens the dark volcanic stone cladded building harmoniously fits in the natural landscape.
The handicapped accessible path leads from the parking lot at the light houses down towards the white piles of salt.
The terrace as well as the panoramic windows provide an open view of the Atlantic Ocean as far as the horizon.
The first-class location is only topped by the haute cuisine
Chef Juan Carlos Rodríguez Curpa is cook with heart and soul.
Together with his team, all graduates of the hotel management school of Santa Cruz, he mainly works with traditional and local products.
The emphasis is on fresh fish and seafood.
Besides the daily catch, dishes like salad with white tuna or rice stew served with conger eel and seafood.
One of the most popular starters is Couscous and chickpeas with passion fruit-mayonnaise (no egg added).
Vegetarian dishes as well as gluten-free meals are also offered.
Meat lovers can choose between leg of lamb, beef sirloin and suckling pig.
Salads and vegetable plates are also included in the menu, which intentionally is kept small.
Seasonal products are the team's motivation for new creations, preventing at the same time that regular customers become stale.
High-quality cuisine also becomes apparent by the use of six different types of olives.
Of course, each table has a selection of different Tenequía salt samples.
The awarded „Flor de Sal“ boosts with its different flavours like wine, paprika or Mojo.
On the wine list you find the house wines Teneguía and Vega Norte, both D.O. La Palma.
Some more selected local and national wines with designation of origin are also offered.
During a visit in the Cafetería and the terrace in the upper area of the restaurant you can enjoy delicious Tapas and starters.
A great addition is the artisanal Palmerian beer.
Wherever the guest will decide to eat or drink - Jardín de la Sal is a place for leisure and relaxation and at the same time a gathering place for hikers, Palmerian families and celebrities.
Those who love to take a piece of this unique place back home are invited to visit the small shop.
There you find souvenirs from the island as well as delicacies like dried bananas (100% organic), honey, typical sweets and of course, the sea salt "Tenequía".
In the older one of the two light houses, next to the restaurant, there is the "Centro de Interpretación de la Reserva Marina".
There you find more information about the marine reserve at the coast of Fuencaliente and its inhabitants.
Lovely quiet place and ocean view from terrace, good quality

Sehr gute, kreative Küche mit hervorragendem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. In der Bar im 1. Stock gibt es Tapas in ähnlich guter Qualität.
